| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 |
| Representatives wish to congratulate Dr. Douglas Parks of |
4 |
| Grayslake on the occasion of his retirement as superintendent |
5 |
| of Aptakisic-Tripp School District 102 in Buffalo Grove; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, Dr. Parks received his master's and doctoral |
7 |
| degrees from the University of Missouri at Kansas City; he has |
8 |
| been in school administration in Illinois for almost 17 years |
9 |
| and has consistently applied the belief of "What's Best for |
10 |
| Children" as his decision screen; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, Dr. Parks has four years of experience as the |
12 |
| Chief Executive Officer of an intermediate school district in |
13 |
| Iowa and, previous to that, several years experience as a |
14 |
| central office administrator, an elementary principal, and |
15 |
| fifth grade teacher in the Kansas City area; he was the |
16 |
| Superintendent for the Special Education District of Lake |
17 |
| County (SEDOL) before becoming the superintendent of |
18 |
| Aptakisic-Tripp School District 102 in 1991; and |
19 |
| WHEREAS, His primary interest professionally has been a |
20 |
| focus on the development of strategic planning that |
21 |
| concentrates organizational energy toward the improvement of |
22 |
| instructional programs to ensure the success of every student; |
23 |
| he has become a legend in District 102 largely for his ability |
24 |
| to unite the community to pass referendums and improve |
25 |
| education; and
|
26 |
| WHEREAS, Dr. Parks was instrumental in the development of |
27 |
| District 102's "Universal Values of Integrity" which are the |
28 |
| basis for the development of a foundation of ethical and moral |
29 |
| behavior, which students should model throughout their lives; |
