HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The profession of interior design continues to
3 meet the challenges of an ever growing and changing society as
4 it intersects public health, safety, and welfare in areas of
5 flammability, toxicity, ergonomics, conservation,
6 accessibility, and building codes to promote safe and healthy
7 work, home, and public spaces; and
 
8     WHEREAS, These spaces impact the well being of millions of
9 people everyday through designers' creativity and attention to
10 safety issues that go far beyond aesthetics; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Interior designers today meet the changing needs
12 of society; they go beyond appeal to create an environment that
13 will accommodate persons of all ages and physical abilities;
14 and
 
15     WHEREAS, The International Interior Design Association
16 founded in 1994 is celebrating the tenth anniversary of
17 representing the interior design profession, and since the
18 Association's inception has worked to convene communities of
19 interior designers across regions and specialties representing
20 the interests for the entire community; and
 
21     WHEREAS, The International Interior Design Association is
22 a professional networking and educational association
23 headquartered in Chicago consisting of more than 10,000 members
24 in 8 specialty Forums, 9 Regions, and more than 30 Chapters
25 around the world committed to enhancing the quality of life
26 through excellence in interior design and advancing interior
27 design through knowledge; and
 
28     WHEREAS, 2004 begins a year of celebrating the anniversary
29 of the International Interior Design Association and also
30 begins a year celebrating and promoting the profession of

1 interior design; therefore, be it
 
2     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
3 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
4 recognize the achievements of the members of the International
5 Interior Design Association and the professionalism for which
6 they strive; and be it further
 
7     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to Lewis Goetz, President of the International
9 Interior Design Association.
