| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 |
| Representatives wish to recognize MacCormac College for 100 |
4 |
| years of continuous and vital post-secondary education in the |
5 |
| City of Chicago; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, Nearly a century ago MacCormac opened its doors to |
7 |
| students seeking a business education in Chicago; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, Dr. Morton MacCormac, a descendant of John Morton, |
9 |
| a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and his wife Mary, |
10 |
| founded MacCormac College; its first location was the Woodlawn |
11 |
| National Bank Building near the University of Chicago; in the |
12 |
| following decades, MacCormac moved to several Chicago |
13 |
| locations including LaSalle Street near the Chicago Board of |
14 |
| Trade and the South Loop area known as the "Education |
15 |
| District"; in May 2001, the Chicago campus was relocated to |
16 |
| newly renovated space in the Heyworth Building at 29 E. |
17 |
| Madison; this new location is just steps away from the |
18 |
| crossroads of Chicago at State and Madison; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, While MacCormac has been known primarily as a |
20 |
| business college for decades, the school has also |
21 |
| revoluntionized instruction in Law programs such as Court |
22 |
| Reporting and Paralegal Studies; MacCormac has always been |
23 |
| known for its ability to adapt to changing times, and in recent |
24 |
| years has added such programs as International Business and |
25 |
| Medical Transcription to its cirricular offerings; and
|
26 |
| WHEREAS, As MacCormac enters the twenty-first century, it |
27 |
| takes pride in leading the way with technological advances in |
28 |
| instruction that prepare its students for an increasingly |
29 |
| complex and exciting world; at the same time, MacCormac College |
30 |
| never forgets its proud tradition of personalized instruction |

| in a highly professional atmosphere; therefore, be it
