| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives are |
3 |
| pleased to congratulate the Tinley Park Arts Alive Community |
4 |
| Band on being selected to represent Illinois in the 2004 |
5 |
| National Festival of the States World War II Memorial |
6 |
| Dedication in Washington, D.C.; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, The band will be participating in the national |
8 |
| festival from May 27, 2004 to June 2, 2004, and they will |
9 |
| perform at the World War II Memorial on the day of the |
10 |
| dedication; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, The Tinley Park Arts Alive Community Band was |
12 |
| established in 1987 under the "Arts Alive!" program to |
13 |
| encourage, promote, teach, and perform the fine arts; in |
14 |
| addition to local concerts, the band performs annually at the |
15 |
| Illinois State Fair and the Hobart, Indiana Summer Music |
16 |
| Concert Series; the group has made 2 successful tours to |
17 |
| Büdingen, Germany, in conjunction with the Tinley |
18 |
| Park/Büdingen Sister Cities cultural exchange program; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, Stephen J. Platko has directed the band since |
20 |
| 1990; he has composed multiple scores for the group, Tinley |
21 |
| Park, and other organizations; in 2000, he received the Studs |
22 |
| Terkel Humanities Service Award; therefore, be it
|
23 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
24 |
| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
25 |
| congratulate the Tinley Park Arts Alive Community Band on being |
26 |
| selected to represent Illinois in the 2004 National Festival of |
27 |
| the States World War II Memorial Dedication in Washington, |
28 |
| D.C., and we wish them the best as they represent our State; |
29 |
