| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives are |
3 |
| pleased to congratulate the Navy Junior ROTC Rifle Team of Zion |
4 |
| Benton Township High School on winning first place at the 2004 |
5 |
| Secretary of the Navy National Championships at Fort Benning, |
6 |
| Georgia, and placing third at the All-Service national |
7 |
| competition; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, The team competed against 582 Navy JROTC teams; |
9 |
| the first place win qualified the team to compete at the |
10 |
| All-Service competition which adds the Army and Marine ROTC |
11 |
| units; with a total of 1,200 teams with 6,000 shooters |
12 |
| competing, the Navy Junior ROTC Rifle Team of Zion Benton |
13 |
| Township High School placed third, the highest a Navy team has |
14 |
| ever finished in the history of the competition; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the team are David Ferger, Chad |
16 |
| Loesch, Justin Myers, John Pitts, and Eric Poulsen; the coach |
17 |
| of the team is Master Chief Dan Hackstein; and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, Cadet Eric Poulsen was one of the top 8 shooters |
19 |
| and qualified for finals; he placed third overall; and
|
20 |
| WHEREAS, At the Illinois State National Rifle Association |
21 |
| Team Junior Olympic tryouts, Eric Poulsen, David Ferger, and |
22 |
| Jon Pitts qualified to represent the State of Illinois at the |
23 |
| World Championship match in July in Idaho; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |

| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |

| congratulate Navy Junior ROTC Rifle Team of Zion Benton |

| Township High School on winning first place at the 2004 |
