HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of U.S. Army
4 Reserves Specialist Gregory Goodrich of Bartonville on Friday,
5 April 9, 2004, when his convoy was ambushed west of Baghdad,
6 Iraq; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Gregory R. Goodrich was born on November 8, 1966,
8 in Phoenix, Arizona, to Ronald N. and Barbara Havlik Goodrich;
9 he received bachelor's and master's degrees from the University
10 of Georgia; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Specialist Goodrich had lived and worked in
12 several parts of the world, including one year in the Czech
13 Republic, where he taught English as a second language; he also
14 had an article published in the Prague Post; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Specialist Goodrich served in the 724th
16 Transportation Company out of Bartonville; his tanker unit was
17 deployed on February 7, 2004; and
 
18     WHEREAS, The passing of Specialist Gregory R. Goodrich has
19 been deeply felt by many, especially his mother and stepfather,
20 Barbara and R. Dale Jones; his father and stepmother, Ronald N.
21 and Teresa Goodrich; his sister, Robin (and Patrick) Kilgannon;
22 and his stepsister, Michelle (and Rick) Idone; therefore, be it
 
23     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
25 mourn the passing of U.S. Army Reserves Specialist Gregory R.
26 Goodrich, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his family,
27 friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
28     RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Specialist Goodrich
29 and his willingness to serve our country, which led to him

1 making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
 
2     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3 presented to the family of U.S. Army Reserves Specialist
4 Gregory R. Goodrich as an expression of our sincere condolences
5 in the loss of their loved one.
