| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
3 |
| State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate Brandon "Shane" |
4 |
| Emrich, a Mt. Vernon fire fighter, on saving the life of a |
5 |
| citizen; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, On March 10, 2003, the rescued person swallowed 92 |
7 |
| valium pills; he had been fighting Parkinson's disease, a |
8 |
| degenerative disorder that left him in a wheelchair; after a |
9 |
| friend called the department, Mr. Emrich was sent to find him; |
10 |
| he was successful in offering the assistance necessary to save |
11 |
| the person's life, and subsequently, that person's life |
12 |
| improved; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Emrich began his career with 5 years as a |
14 |
| volunteer for McLeansboro's fire department, starting in 1993; |
15 |
| in 1998, he graduated from Southern Illinois University at |
16 |
| Carbondale and became chief coordinator of Hamilton County |
17 |
| Emergency Services and Disaster Agency; in 2001, he was hired |
18 |
| at Mt. Vernon's fire department; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Emrich is described as an excellent fire |
20 |
| fighter who is conscientious and pulls no punches; therefore, |
21 |
| be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
23 |
| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
24 |
| congratulate Brandon "Shane" Emrich, a Mt. Vernon fire fighter, |
25 |
| on saving the life of a person in distress, and we thank him |
26 |
| for being a true hero; and be it further
|
27 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
28 |
| presented to Brandon "Shane" Emrich as an expression of our |
29 |
| respect and esteem.
