| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 |
| Representatives wish to congratulate Arlington Heights Police |
4 |
| Chief Rodney L. Kath on his retirement, on May 26, 2004, after |
5 |
| 39 years of service to the Arlington Heights Police Department; |
6 |
| and |
7 |
| WHEREAS, In 1965, Rodney Kath began working for the |
8 |
| Arlington Heights Police Department in the radio room, a |
9 |
| position which turned into a police officer appointment and the |
10 |
| following May officially began his career with the police |
11 |
| department; and |
12 |
| WHEREAS, Over the next 9 years, he attained assignments in |
13 |
| all divisions in the police department and ended up |
14 |
| concentrating on the development of a juvenile division in the |
15 |
| mid 1970s; and |
16 |
| WHEREAS, In 1975, he was promoted to sergeant and remained |
17 |
| in juvenile investigations until his promotion to lieutenant in |
18 |
| 1977; in 1980, Rodney Kath was named chief of police for the |
19 |
| Arlington Heights Police Department; and |
20 |
| WHEREAS, Northwest Central Dispatch Systems was developed |
21 |
| by Arlington Heights with only four municipalities and has |
22 |
| grown to 16 police and fire departments; and |
23 |
| WHEREAS, Under Chief Kath's leadership, the department has |
24 |
| grown from a staff of 31 in the mid 1960s, to its current 113 |
25 |
| police officers and 39 civilian employees for a total staff of |
26 |
| 151 people; and |
27 |
| WHEREAS, Chief Kath's leadership has provided the citizens |
28 |
| of Arlington Heights with an outstanding, well trained |
29 |
| department that provides a strong commitment for service to the |
