| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
3 |
| State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate Joseph Perry, |
4 |
| president and CEO of Perry Group, Ltd., on being inducted into |
5 |
| the University of Illinois at Chicago Entrepreneurship Hall of |
6 |
| Fame; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, The Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame, the oldest and |
8 |
| most prestigious program honoring Chicago area entrepreneurs, |
9 |
| was first presented in 1984; the University of Illinois at |
10 |
| Chicago's Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies co-sponsors |
11 |
| the annual event; honorees are interviewed and evaluated by a |
12 |
| panel of judges consisting of previous nominees, business media |
13 |
| representatives, and executives of sponsoring organizations; |
14 |
| and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, The award highlights Mr. Perry as an example of a |
16 |
| successful leader who recognizes opportunities with |
17 |
| creativity, persistence, and sound business judgement; and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Perry expanded his Kankakee County-based |
19 |
| commercial real estate and development firm into the Chicago |
20 |
| marketplace in late 2002; his background and understanding of |
21 |
| the industry have allowed him to become the number one volume |
22 |
| commercial real estate agent in the market each of the years he |
23 |
| actively participated in brokerage; and
|
24 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Perry's active role in the brokerage business |
25 |
| was relatively dormant for a short period of time in 1994 when |
26 |
| he started an affiliate company, J.M. Perry Development Corp., |
27 |
| which developed smaller commercial and industrial |
28 |
| build-to-suits as well as market-rate multi-family residential |
29 |
| subdivisions; this led to a very specialized segment of the |
30 |
| multi-family development business with the advent of the use of |
31 |
| Federal Tax Credits to develop affordable senior housing |
