HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate Mrs. Eleanor Boyd
4 Davis on the occasion of her retirement; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mrs. Eleanor Boyd Davis is a native of Valdosta,
6 Georgia; she attended public schools in Valdosta and graduated
7 from Pinevale High School; she continued her education at
8 Savannah State College in Savannah, Georgia, where she received
9 a B.S. degree in business education; she earned a master's
10 degree in education from Webster University in St. Louis,
11 Missouri; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Mrs. Davis is married to Melvin Davis, Sr.; she is
13 the mother of 3 children, Sherrine (deceased), Melvin II, and
14 Martis Davis; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Mrs. Davis began her teaching career at A.M.
16 Jackson Elementary School in 1969; she was relocated to Judge
17 Billy Jones Elementary in 1989; she is completing an
18 illustrious 36 years of educating the students in East St.
19 Louis District 189; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Mrs. Davis is an active member of Immanuel
21 Lutheran Church; she is a member of the Altar Guild, a delegate
22 to the Lutheran High School Association, and a former
23 chairperson of the educational committee; she is also very
24 active in professional organizations; she is a member of Delta
25 Sigma Theta, Inc., a public service sorority; Women in Search
26 of Investments Association; International Training in
27 Communication; and she is a U.S.O. volunteer; and
 
28     WHEREAS, Mrs. Davis's philosophy is that if she can help
29 somebody along the way, her life has not been in vain;
30 therefore, be it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
3 congratulate Eleanor Boyd Davis on the occasion of her
4 retirement celebration, and we thank her for her many years of
5 devotion to the education of students of the State of Illinois;
6 and be it further
 
7     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to Mrs. Davis as an expression of our respect and
9 esteem.
