| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
3 |
| State of Illinois wish to congratulate Larry F. Altenbaumer on |
4 |
| the occasion of his retirement as President of Illinois Power |
5 |
| on March 31, 2004; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Altenbaumer received a Bachelor of Science |
7 |
| degree in electrical engineering/computer science from the |
8 |
| University of Illinois in 1970; he joined Illinois Power the |
9 |
| same year as an assistant electrical engineer in data |
10 |
| processing; he held various positions in data processing, |
11 |
| including responsibilities for several key projects until he |
12 |
| was promoted to director-budgets and forecasts in 1978; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Altenbaumer was named manager of Illinois |
14 |
| Power's first finance department in 1980 and held several |
15 |
| positions in the financial area, including treasurer, |
16 |
| controller, and chief financial officer; he was named senior |
17 |
| vice president and chief financial officer of Illinois Power in |
18 |
| 1992 and was elected chief financial officer, treasurer, and |
19 |
| controller of Illinova upon its formation in 1994; he became |
20 |
| president of Illinois Power in September 1999; and |
21 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Altenbaumer played a significant role in |
22 |
| assisting the General Assembly in the framing of the Electric |
23 |
| Service Customer Choice and Rate Relief Law of 1997; and
|
24 |
| WHEREAS, Illinois Power is an electric and natural gas |
25 |
| delivery company with approximately 650,000 customers and |
26 |
| 1,800 employees; and
|
27 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Altenbaumer has a strong sense of community; |
28 |
| he currently serves as the chairman of the James Millikin |
29 |
| Estate Board, the Energy Assistance Foundation, and the |
30 |
| Illinois Energy Association; he previously served as the |
