| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 |
| Representatives congratulate Villa Park Chief of Police Ronald |
4 |
| R. Ohlson on his retirement after many years of dedicated |
5 |
| service; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, Ronald Ohlson began with the Villa Park Police |
7 |
| Department in 1972 as a patrolman and quickly moved up through |
8 |
| the ranks serving as Police Liaison Officer, Detective, |
9 |
| Sergeant, and Lieutenant/Deputy Chief before becoming Chief in |
10 |
| 1991; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, Chief Ohlson graduated from the F.B.I Academy in |
12 |
| 1993; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, He was awarded "Police Officer of the Year" by the |
14 |
| Villa Park Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the State of |
15 |
| Illinois; and in 2001, he received the Illinois Public |
16 |
| Employees' Labor Relations Award; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, Chief Ohlson has served as chairman of the Board |
18 |
| of the DuPage County Major Crimes Task Force; he is the founder |
19 |
| and past executive board member of the DuPage County Crime |
20 |
| Commission; past executive board member of the Illinois Police |
21 |
| Association; past vice chairman of the DuPage County Children's |
22 |
| Center; past president of the Rotary Club of Villa Park and |
23 |
| DuPage County Chiefs of Police; and Sergeant at Arms of the |
24 |
| Illinois Chiefs of Police and the International Chiefs of |
25 |
| Police; and
|
26 |
| WHEREAS, During his service as Chief of the Villa Park |
27 |
| Police Department, the Department received 1st place in the |
28 |
| State of Illinois Traffic Challenge and was recognized for |
29 |
| Community Policing programs for the National League of Cities |
30 |
| and DuPage County; and
