| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of

| Representatives were saddened to learn of the
death of Michael |

| Steven Johnson of Chicago on
November 11, 2003; and |
5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson was born in Los Angeles, California
to |
6 |
| Rayfield and Clairece Watkins who preceded him in death;
he |
7 |
| graduated from Wendell Phillips High School, after which
he |
8 |
| served four years in the United States Air Force; after
|
9 |
| discharge, he continued his education and received an
|
10 |
| Associate's Degree in Mathematics from Kennedy-King College;
|
11 |
| and |
12 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson worked for the Chicago Transit
|
13 |
| Authority for thirty-four years, a job he really loved and
|
14 |
| enjoyed; he also worked for the Chicago Park District; he
was |
15 |
| very involved with community activities in the early
1970s as a |
16 |
| Democratic Precinct Captain of the 2nd Ward; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson accepted Christ at an early age and
|
18 |
| attended Christ Universal Temple in Chicago; he had a
|
19 |
| charismatic personality and infectious smile; he was a
"people |
20 |
| person"; and |
21 |
| WHEREAS, Michael Steven Johnson's passing will be deeply
|
22 |
| felt by many, especially his wife of twenty-six years,
Willia; |

| his two daughters, Alderman Latasha Thomas (Timothy
Jr.) and |
24 |
| Teresa Johnson; his son, Justin; his grandchildren,
Victoria, |
25 |
| Timothy III, and Christian Jaelen; his godson,
Romulus Jackson; |
26 |
| his sisters, Imani Kali-Nyah and Lametrice
Bush (Kirk); his |
27 |
| brother, Rayfield Watkins, Jr.; his two
special aunts, Ora D. |

| Frenchwood and Betty Woodward; his
mother-in-law, Emma Pope; |

| his five sisters-in-law; his three
brothers-in-law; his three |
