093_HR0579 LRB093 12265 KEF 17449 r 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives were saddened to learn of the death of Wayne 4 Phillips, Jr. of Chicago on June 20, 2003; and 5 WHEREAS, Mr. Phillips, Jr., whom was affectionately known 6 as "Little Wayne," was born in Chicago on May 11, 1972; he 7 was the second of four children born to the union of Betty J. 8 Flowers and Wayne Phillips, Sr.; and 9 WHEREAS, Mr. Phillips attended Accounters Preparatory 10 Academy and Barton Elementary school; he continued his 11 education at Simeon Vocational High School; he graduated from 12 Roseland Community School in 1989 and he attended 13 Kennedy-King College where he majored in Business 14 Administration and Computer Science; and 15 WHEREAS, Mr. Phillips' career began at the State of 16 Illinois, where he served as an Office Associate, Associate 17 of Triangle, and as a Personal Assistant with the Department 18 of Human Rights; he later joined Ameritech as a Consumer 19 Advocate and finally with Sprint PCS as a Customer Service 20 Business Representative; and 21 WHEREAS, Mr. Phillips' compassion and caring was 22 unmatched; his love for his family was evident and he was 23 always a strong son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, 24 cousin, and friend; and 25 WHEREAS, The passing of Wayne Phillips, Jr. will be 26 deeply felt by many, especially his parents, Betty and Wayne 27 Phillips, Sr.; his siblings, Cherron Phillips, Devon 28 Phillips, and Eva Phillips; his nephews, Joshua Jamal 29 Anderson and Jaylen Jamal Phillips; his grandmother, Lula 30 Flowers; his aunts, State Representative Mary E. Flowers 31 (Daniel Coutee), Shirley Hiner, and Kimberly Flowers -2- LRB093 12265 KEF 17449 r 1 (Torianno Watson); his five uncles, Mall Phillips, Robert 2 Phillips, Willie Flowers, Edward Flowers, and Louis Flowers 3 (Lynette); and a host of other cousins, relatives, and 4 friends; and 5 WHEREAS, Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his uncle, 6 Thomas; therefore, be it 7 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 8 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 9 we mourn the passing of Wayne Phillips, Jr. along with all 10 who knew and loved him and extend our sincere condolences to 11 his family and friends; and be it further 12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 13 presented to the family of Wayne Phillips, Jr. as an 14 expression of our deepest sympathy.
