093_HR0522 LRB093 13678 KEF 19495 r 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, Jewish Community Centers of Chicago was 3 incorporated as the Chicago Hebrew Institute in the State of 4 Illinois on November 12, 1903; and 5 WHEREAS, Jewish Community Centers of Chicago has served 6 the needs of community members by providing educational, 7 cultural, social, and recreational services to hundreds of 8 thousands of Chicago-area constituents of all ages and life 9 stages, representing five generations, during these past 10 hundred years; and 11 WHEREAS, Jewish Community Centers of Chicago has served 12 and nurtured constituents of both Jewish and general 13 communities, with great kindness, care and compassion, 14 through its extensive programs and services during these past 15 hundred years; and 16 WHEREAS, Jewish Community Centers of Chicago has served 17 and continues to serve constituents with dignity and honor, 18 including members of the most vulnerable populations, in 19 large part because of the extraordinary philanthropic support 20 of the community; and 21 WHEREAS, Jewish Community Centers of Chicago has been 22 nationally recognized for its programming and service 23 innovation and excellence, and continues to cultivate and 24 promote volunteerism and effective and potent community 25 leadership; and 26 WHEREAS, Jewish Community Centers of Chicago remains 27 committed to enhancing the quality of life for tens of 28 thousands of people annually by recognizing their diverse 29 interests and needs and by developing their potential; 30 therefore, be it 31 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE -2- LRB093 13678 KEF 19495 r 1 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 2 in honor of this momentous 100th Anniversary occasion and in 3 recognition of the continuing commitment to service, 4 innovation and excellence of the current and past board 5 members, staff, and other volunteers of Jewish Community 6 Centers of Chicago, that we proclaim November 12, 2003 to be 7 Jewish Community Centers of Chicago Day in the State of 8 Illinois and encourage all citizens to take cognizance of the 9 great role of Jewish Community Centers of Chicago in 10 community life; and be it further 11 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 12 shared with Jewish Community Centers of Chicago so that the 13 greetings and acknowledgement of the Illinois House of 14 Representatives be part of the festivities as the 100th 15 anniversary is celebrated throughout the greater Chicago 16 Metropolitan area where the Jewish Community Centers are 17 located, serving the general and Jewish communities.
