 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives wish
 3    to congratulate the  members  of  Faith  Lutheran  Church  of
 4    Joliet on the occasion of their 50th anniversary; and

 5        WHEREAS,  Faith  Lutheran Church in Joliet was founded on
 6    September 13, 1953; the first worship services were  held  at
 7    Pershing  Elementary  School  in Joliet; the current building
 8    was dedicated in January of 1957; and

 9        WHEREAS, Faith Lutheran  Church  has  been  served  by  6
10    pastors in its history; they are Reverend J.J. Lippoldt, 1953
11    to  1967; Reverend Charles R. Streich, 1967 to 1969; Reverend
12    Harold J. Bolm, 1969 to 1980; Reverend Paul J. Olson, 1981 to
13    1988; Reverend Rodney A. Juell, 1988 to  1999;  and  Reverend
14    Todd C. Napoli, 2000 to the present; and

15        WHEREAS,  Faith  Lutheran  Church  has  a long history of
16    being active in ecumenical and community service events;  the
17    growing congregation has recently completed a set of building
18    improvements; and

19        WHEREAS,  The  mission statement of Faith Lutheran Church
20    is "Sharing the love of God"; current  church  goals  include
21    feeding  the  hungry,  connecting with new neighbors, growing
22    caring  relationships,  and  engaging  adults  in   Christian
23    education; therefore, be it

24        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
25    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
26    we  congratulate  the  members  of  Fiath  Lutheran Church of
27    Joliet on the occasion of their 50th anniversary on September
28    13, 2003; and be it further

29        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
30    presented  to  the  members  of  Faith  Lutheran Church as an
31    expression of our respect and esteem and with our many thanks
