 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the House of  Representatives  of
 3    the  State  of  Illinois wish to congratulate Tony Altieri on
 4    his promotion to the position of State Commander  of  AMVETS;
 5    and

 6        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Altieri  served  in  the Illinois National
 7    Guard from March of 1955 until he was honorably discharged in
 8    March of 1963; he had attained the rank of Sergeant E-5; and

 9        WHEREAS, Mr. Altieri has been a  life  member  of  AMVETS
10    Phillip  Carpenter  Post 66 since 1991; he has held a variety
11    of offices in Post 66, including 3rd Vice Commander, Jr. Vice
12    Commander, Sr. Vice Commander, and Commander;  he  was  named
13    Post 66 AMVET of the Year in 1997;

14        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Altieri  has  also been very active in the
15    Post 66 Building Corporation; under his leadership as Trustee
16    and Vice President, the Post 66 Building Corporation has been
17    completely   renovated   and   redecorated   including    the
18    replacement   of   3  heating  and  air  conditioning  units,
19    replacement of all of the kitchen appliances, and enlargement
20    and upgrading of the parking lots; and

21        WHEREAS, In addition  to  his  work  with  Post  66,  Mr.
22    Altieri  has also been active with the Department of Illinois
23    AMVETS;  he  was  Sr.  Vice  Commander  from  1998  to  1999;
24    Commander  from  1999-2000;  Adjutant  from  2000  to   2002;
25    Chairman  of  several  committees  in  2000,  2001, and 2002;
26    Illinois Provost Marshal from 2000 to 2001; and the alternate
27    delegate to the Combined  Veterans  Association  of  Illinois
28    from 2001 through 2002; and

29        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Altieri  is  also  active in various other
30    organizations; he  has  served  in  various  offices  of  the
31    Wheeling  Jaycees, as Commissioner of the Palwaukee Municipal

 1    Airport since  1985,  as  museum  curator  for  the  Wheeling
 2    Historical  Society  from  1987  to  1991,  and as a Wheeling
 3    Village Trustee from 1983 to 1991; and

 4        WHEREAS, Mr. Altieri is also a devoted family man; he and
 5    his wife have raised 5 sons and 2 daughters and are the proud
 6    grandparents of 19 grandchildren; therefore be it

 7        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
 8    NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
 9    we congratulate Tony Altieri on his promotion to the position
10    of State Commander of AMVETS; and be it further

11        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
12    presented to Mr. Altieri as an expression of our esteem.
