 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The Women's  Bar  Association  of  Illinois  was
 3    founded  in  1914  to  ensure  the success of women attorneys
 4    through business and professional development and to advocate
 5    for women's interests; and

 6        WHEREAS, On June 5, 2003, the Women's Bar Association  of
 7    Illinois  will  install Elizabeth Budzinski as its president;
 8    and

 9        WHEREAS, Elizabeth received a bachelor of arts in English
10    Literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, studying
11    abroad at the University of  Warwick  in  Coventry,  England,
12    where  she  immersed herself in literature, art, and traveled
13    extensively throughout the European continent; and

14        WHEREAS, Elizabeth is a  1988  graduate  of  Chicago-Kent
15    College of Law; and

16        WHEREAS,  Upon  graduation, Elizabeth entered practice at
17    Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker LLP,  representing
18    defendants in the areas of employment discrimination, medical
19    malpractice,  Federal  Debt  Collection  Practices Act cases,
20    1983 Civil Rights actions, and general professional liability
21    insurance matters, including coverage issues; and

22        WHEREAS, Elizabeth earned partnership in 1996, litigating
23    countless cases to verdict regarding  a  variety  of  complex
24    issues; and

25        WHEREAS,  Elizabeth  Budzinski  was  appointed  associate
26    judge  in the Circuit Court of Cook County on April 22, 2003,
27    following in her father's footsteps; and

28        WHEREAS,  Elizabeth  is   an   active   member   of   the
29    professional  and  civic  community,  serving on the Illinois
30    State Bar Association Civil Practice  and  Procedure  Section

 1    Council  and serving as a founding board member of i.c.stars,
 2    a not-for-profit organization that provides opportunities for
 3    inner-city young adults to harness the strength of technology
 4    for social and economic leadership; and

 5        WHEREAS, Elizabeth  has  been  an  active  and  committed
 6    member  of  the Women's Bar Association of Illinois, chairing
 7    and co-chairing many of its significant events, and Elizabeth
 8    has dedicated herself to serving the advancement  of  women's
 9    issues  and  eagerly takes up the mantle of presidency of the
10    Women's Bar Association of Illinois; therefore, be it

11        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
12    NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13    we congratulate Elizabeth Budzinski on  her  installation  as
14    president   of  the  Women's  Bar  Association  of  Illinois,
15    thanking both for their continued outstanding public service;
16    and be it further

17        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
18    presented  to  Elizabeth  Budzinski, President of the Women's
19    Bar Association, 2003-2004.
