093_HR0249 LRB093 11656 KEF 15161 r 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives were saddened to learn of the death of James 4 Elmer Haley of Springfield on April 20, 2003; and 5 WHEREAS, Mr. Haley was born on August 17, 1917 in Peoria 6 to Elmer and Gertrude Anderson; and 7 WHEREAS, Mr. Haley owned and operated Haley's Tip-To-Top 8 Valet Shop for many years; he was a member of Union Baptist 9 Church; and 10 WHEREAS, Mr. Haley was the grandfather of Roy Williams, 11 the Executive Director for the Illinois Legislative Black 12 Caucus (ILBC); and 13 WHEREAS, Mr. Haley's passing will be deeply felt by many, 14 especially his six sons, Donald L. "Dee" Haley, Gerald T. 15 Haley, James L. "Rock" (wife, Edna) Haley, William A. "Billy" 16 Haley, Rickey L. Haley, and Richard Eugene Haley; his five 17 daughters, Roberta Davis, Ethel Howze, Arlene Carter, Donna 18 J. (husband, Lindsey) Hickman, and Vickey Washington; his 19 many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and 20 great-great-grandchildren; his two brothers, Raymond "Ray" 21 Haley and Earl (wife, Theresa) Haley; and his sister, Anna 22 Haley; and 23 WHEREAS, Mr. Haley was preceded in death by his wife, 24 Christine Johnson Haley; and his daughter, Christine Gage; 25 therefore, be it 26 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 27 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 28 we mourn the death of James Elmer Haley along with all who 29 knew and loved him and extend our sincere condolences to his 30 family and friends; and be it further -2- LRB093 11656 KEF 15161 r 1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 2 presented to the family of James Elmer Haley as an expression 3 of our deepest sympathy.
