093_HR0144 LRB093 11294 KEF 13527 r 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives were saddened to learn of the death of 21 of 4 this State's citizens who passed away on February 17, 2003 5 due to the tragic accident that took place at the E2 Club in 6 Chicago; and 7 WHEREAS, During the time since this incident has 8 occurred, there has been a tremendous outpouring of love and 9 heartfelt sentiment, as people from every part of our State 10 and nation have shared in the families' losses; monuments 11 have been erected in the victims' names, and time and money 12 have been donated to the families and children that still 13 remain; and 14 WHEREAS, Some of those who mourn are members of the 15 Triumph Over Tragedy Organizing Committee, young 16 African-American and Latino business owners and entrepreneurs 17 who believe that grieving families who have endured hardship 18 and pain have been triumphant, having gained wisdom and 19 strength through struggle and pain; on March 26, 2003, this 20 organization will dedicate its time and talent to honor those 21 who lost their lives in the E2 Tragedy; young adults and 22 entertainment professionals, from Chicago and across the 23 country, will host the Triumph Over Tragedy Memorial Benefit 24 Concert, at the Isaac Hayes Restaurant and over 100 25 businesses and organizations will participate; the evening 26 will include a city-wide prayer and a memorial tribute from 27 some of Chicago's best and brightest young stars; and 28 WHEREAS, The deceased include Nita Anthony, Robert Brown, 29 Demetricita Carswell, Bianca Ferguson, Kevin Gayden, Debra 30 Gill, Danielle Greene, Chanta Jackson, David Jones, Teresa 31 Johnson-Gordon, Charles Lard, Latoyra McGraw, Antonio Myers, 32 Nicole Patterson, Nicole Rainey, Dashand Ray, Charita Rhodes, -2- LRB093 11294 KEF 13527 r 1 Eazay Rogers, Damien Riley, Maurice L. Robinson, and Michael 2 Wilson; therefore be it 3 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 4 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 5 we commemorate the loss of many lives and commend the Triumph 6 Over Tragedy Organizing Committee for sponsoring this 7 heartfelt tribute; and be it further 8 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 9 presented to the Triumph Over Tragedy Organizing Committee as 10 an expression of our respect and esteem.
