093_HR0138 LRB093 11312 HSS 13292 r 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, Education of our State's children and youth is 3 one of the most noble and important professions; and 4 WHEREAS, Reverend Clyde Williams is retiring from his 5 position of counselor at Judge Billy Jones Elementary School 6 of East Saint Louis School District #189; and 7 WHEREAS, Reverend Williams is the youngest child of 8 Reverend and Mrs. McKinley (Jessie) Williams; he was born St. 9 Louis, Missouri, but has lived the majority of his life in 10 the East Saint Louis area; and 11 WHEREAS, Reverend Williams attended Webster Elementary, 12 Rock Junior High, and East St. Louis Senior High School; he 13 attended Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville where 14 he received a Bachelor of Science degree in education and a 15 Master of Science degree in guidance and counseling; and 16 WHEREAS, Prior to working for District #189, Reverend 17 Williams worked as a custodian, a postal clerk, and a 18 musician; he was in the music ministry at New Bethel Baptist 19 Church and Macedonia Baptist Church; he has served at several 20 churches in the East St. Louis and St. Louis, Missouri area; 21 he is currently a member of the music ministry at St. Paul 22 Baptist Church and minister of music at Mt. Pisgah Baptist 23 Church, both of East St. Louis; and 24 WHEREAS, Thirty-six years ago, Reverend Williams began 25 his teaching career with District #189 as a substitute 26 teacher, then as a full time class room teacher at Parkside 27 Elementary in a self contained fourth grade classroom; 28 additionally, he has taught at John F. Kennedy Elementary, 29 Hughes-Quinn Junior High, and East Side Senior High School, 30 as well as serving as a district general music supervisor; he 31 is retiring from his position as counselor at Judge Billy -2- LRB093 11312 HSS 13292 r 1 Jones Elementary; and 2 WHEREAS, Reverend Williams is married to Annette Edwynna 3 (Clark) Williams; they have been married for 29 years and 4 have two children, Edward and Veronica, and 11 grandchildren; 5 therefore, be it 6 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 7 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 8 we congratulate Reverend Clyde Williams on the occasion of 9 his retirement from District #189 and commend him for his 10 work with children and youth; and be it further 11 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 12 presented to Reverend Clyde Williams as a token of our 13 respect and esteem and with best wishes for a relaxing and 14 peaceful retirement.
