093_HR0126 LRB093 11151 HSS 12013 r 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of 3 the State of Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of 4 Minnie B. Moss on Thursday, February 7, 2003; and 5 WHEREAS, Mrs. Moss attended Aggie High School and Coahoma 6 Junior College; she financed her way through college and 7 graduated from Mississippi Industrial College with a Bachelor 8 of Science degree; and 9 WHEREAS, Mrs. Moss was active in the civil rights 10 movement in the South where she grew up; she participated in 11 student lunch counter sit-ins, marches, and voter 12 registration initiatives; and 13 WHEREAS, Mrs. Moss led a distinguished professional 14 career serving many years with Raytheon Corporation and 15 Prudential Insurance; she was currently employed under 16 Secretary of State Jessie White; and 17 WHEREAS, Mrs. Moss was active in her community, serving 18 as a faithful volunteer with the Jackson Cougars softball 19 team; she was a volunteer parent with Marshall High School 20 Parent Athletic Program and was active in the 4800 Crystal 21 block club for over twenty years; she was a member of St. 22 Paul Lutheran Church where she served on the Education Board; 23 and 24 WHEREAS, Mrs. Moss will be remembered as a loving mother, 25 great aunt, and a caring sister; her passing has been deeply 26 felt by many, especially her husband, Jackie; her sons, 27 Kurttizz (Tracy), Marvin (Dawn), George, and Darius; her 28 mother-in-law, Doris Perry (Elder Perry); her brother-in-law, 29 Autrey; her sisters, Valarie, Edna, Diana (Terry), Jean 30 (Charles), and Darlena (Walter); her brothers, Charlie 31 (Birda), Jackson (Gladyes), and Johnnie; her uncles, James, -2- LRB093 11151 HSS 12013 r 1 Joe Willie, Emanuel, Kurtiss, and Frank; her nieces, Dorthia, 2 Onedia (Leroy), Necole, Tasha, and Shalanda; her nephews, 3 Omarr, Philander, Johnnie, Joseph, Danny, Lamont, Charles, 4 Marquis, and Walter; her eight great-nieces; her nine 5 great-great-nephews; her four grandchildren; and her host of 6 cousins and friends; therefore, be it 7 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 8 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 9 we mourn the passing of Minnie B. Moss and extend to her 10 family, friends, and all who loved her our deepest sympathy; 11 and be it further 12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 13 presented to the family of Minnie B. Moss along with our 14 sincerest condolences.
