 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the House of  Representatives  of
 3    the State of Illinois wish to congratulate Mark Gervais, head
 4    wrestling  coach at Marist High School in Chicago, on earning
 5    his 400th career win; and

 6        WHEREAS, On December 21, 2002, Marist  High  School  beat
 7    Mt.  Carmel in a varsity wrestling meet with a score of 38 to
 8    23, marking the 400th win under Coach Gervais; and

 9        WHEREAS, Coach Gervais  began  teaching  at  Marist  High
10    School  in 1982; he was the assistant wrestling coach for the
11    1982-83 season and became head coach in  1983;  he  currently
12    serves as the physical education department chairperson; and

13        WHEREAS,  Through  the  years,  Coach Gervais has enjoyed
14    getting to know  the  families  who  have  gone  through  the
15    wrestling program and contributed to his 400 wins; he remains
16    in  contact today with many of his players from 20 years ago;
17    in his own words, "...the Marist philosophy of education (is)
18    for time and  eternity.  We  continue  learning  and  growing
19    together."; and

20        WHEREAS,  The 2002-2003 Marist High School Wrestling Team
21    had set a team goal to achieve  the  eight  wins  that  Coach
22    Gervais  needed  in  order  to  have 400 wins; his record now
23    stands at 405-57-2 and his teams have earned  numerous  State
24    and  national  titles  and have won 23 consecutive conference
25    titles; therefore, be it

26        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
27    NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
28    we congratulate Coach Mark Gervais on achieving his 400th win
29    as a wrestling coach for Marist High School  and  we  commend
30    him  for  his  dedication  to  his  students, the school, and
31    wrestling; and be it further

 2    presented to Coach Mark Gervais as a token of our respect and
 3    esteem.
