093_HR0015 LRB093 05023 HSS 05082 r 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of 3 the State of Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of 4 Dan Stover of Centralia on Sunday, January 12, 2003; and 5 WHEREAS, Mr. Stover was born on October 29, 1919 in 6 Centralia to Hollie and Sadie (Cunningham) Stover; he married 7 Rosa Lee Brennan on July 5, 1941 in St. Charles, Missouri; 8 she preceded him in death on September 6, 2001; and 9 WHEREAS, Mr. Stover was a member of the First Christian 10 Church and the Masonic Lodge 201 Ancient Free and Accepted 11 Masons; he was a licensed professional engineer, having 12 served as chief engineer from 1980 to 1999 at the Centralia 13 Correctional Center; and 14 WHEREAS, Mr. Stover had owned and operated Stover 15 Brothers, Inc. in Centralia; he was co-founder and board 16 member of the Centralia Teen Town in the 1960s and 1970s; he 17 served on the Centralia City Council as street and police 18 commissioner and had served on the board of directors at 19 Kaskaskia Workshop for many years; and 20 WHEREAS, Mr. Stover valiantly served his country in the 21 U.S. Air Force during World War II; he had attended the Cadet 22 Academy at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale; and 23 WHEREAS, The passing of Dan Stover will be deeply felt by 24 many, especially his sons, David R. Stover and wife Janet, 25 Danny L. Stover and wife Linda, and Donald H. Stover and wife 26 Jan; his brother, Harold Stover; his sister, Mary McMillan; 27 his six grandchildren, Amy Cheatham and husband Michael, 28 Charlene Powers, Brennan Stover and wife Tiffany, Dannon 29 Stover, Zachary Stover, and Gabriel Stover; and his two 30 great-grandchildren, Desiree Stover and Noah Cheatham; 31 therefore, be it -2- LRB093 05023 HSS 05082 r 1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 2 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 3 we mourn the passing of Dan Stover and offer our sincerest 4 condolences to his family and friends; and be it further 5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 6 presented to the family of Dan Stover with our deepest 7 sympathy.
