Amends the Township Code. Authorizes a township board to establish a township pharmacy, upon the request of the supervisor of general assistance, by either (i) entering into contractual agreements with senior centers or (ii) using existing township offices. Requires the township pharmacy to employ at least one licensed pharmacist to supervise the facility, and requires all pharmaceuticals available through the pharmacy to have been approved by the Federal Drug Administration.

| AN ACT concerning local government.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Township Code is amended by adding Section |
5 |
| 220-22 as follows: |
6 |
| (60 ILCS 1/220-22 new) |

| Sec. 220-22. Township pharmacies. Upon the request of the |
8 |
| supervisor of general assistance, the township board may |
9 |
| establish a township wholesale pharmacy by either (i) entering |
10 |
| into contractual agreements with senior centers or (ii) using |
11 |
| existing township offices. The township wholesale pharmacy |
12 |
| shall purchase pharmaceuticals and sell them to senior citizens |
13 |
| and general assistance recipients at wholesale prices. All |
14 |
| pharmaceuticals available through the township pharmacy shall |
15 |
| have been approved by the Federal Drug Administration, and the |
16 |
| township pharmacy shall employ at least one licensed pharmacist |
17 |
| to supervise the facility.
