Amends the Nursing and Advanced Practice Nursing Act. Increases the amount of moneys in the Nursing Dedicated and Professional Fund to be appropriated to the Department of Public Health for nursing scholarships awarded pursuant to the Nursing Education Scholarship Law from $750,000 to $1,500,000 for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2004 and each fiscal year thereafter. Effective immediately.

| AN ACT concerning nursing.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Nursing and Advanced Practice Nursing Act is |
5 |
| amended by changing Section 20-40 as follows:
|

| (225 ILCS 65/20-40)
|
7 |
| (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2008)
|

| Sec. 20-40. Fund. There is hereby created within the State |
9 |
| Treasury the
Nursing Dedicated and Professional Fund. The |
10 |
| monies in the Fund may be
used by and at the direction of the |
11 |
| Department for the administration and
enforcement of this Act, |
12 |
| including but not limited to:
|
13 |
| (a) Distribution and publication of the Nursing and |
14 |
| Advanced Practice
Nursing Act and the rules at the time of |
15 |
| renewal to all persons licensed by
the Department under |
16 |
| this Act.
|
17 |
| (b) Employment of secretarial, nursing, |
18 |
| administrative, enforcement, and
other staff for the |
19 |
| administration of this Act.
|
20 |
| (c) Conducting a survey, as prescribed by rule of the |
21 |
| Department, once
every 4 years during the license renewal |
22 |
| period.
|
23 |
| (d) Conducting of training seminars for licensees |
24 |
| under this Act relating
to the obligations, |
25 |
| responsibilities, enforcement and other provisions of
the |
26 |
| Act and its rules.
|
27 |
| (e) Disposition of Fees:
|
28 |
| (i) (Blank).
|
29 |
| (ii) All of the fees and fines collected pursuant |
30 |
| to
this Act shall be deposited in the Nursing Dedicated |
31 |
| and Professional Fund.
|
32 |
| (iii) For the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1988, |
