| AN ACT concerning education.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section |

| 27-12 as follows:
|

| Sec. 27-12. Character education.
Honesty, kindness, |

| justice and moral courage.
Every public school teacher shall |

| teach students respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, |
| 10 |
| trustworthiness, and citizenship in order to raise
the pupils |
| 11 |
| honesty, kindness,
justice, discipline, respect for others, |
| 12 |
| and moral courage for the purpose
of lessening crime and |
| 13 |
| raising
the standard of good character
citizenship.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
