2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 6299 by replacing | ||||||
3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following:

4 | "Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by | ||||||
5 | adding Section 356z.6 as follows: | ||||||
6 | (215 ILCS 5/356z.6 new) | ||||||
7 | Sec. 356z.6. Vision therapy. | ||||||
8 | (a) An individual or group policy of accident and health | ||||||
9 | insurance or managed care plan amended, delivered, issued, or | ||||||
10 | renewed in this State after the effective date of this | ||||||
11 | amendatory Act of the 93rd General Assembly, must include | ||||||
12 | coverage for vision therapy, therapeutic lenses, prisms, | ||||||
13 | filters, occlusions, and specialized equipment used in the | ||||||
14 | vision therapy treatment process. | ||||||
15 | (b) For the purposes of this Section, "vision therapy" | ||||||
16 | means a treatment process used to improve vision function. | ||||||
17 | Vision therapy includes a broad range of developmental and | ||||||
18 | rehabilitative treatment programs individually prescribed to | ||||||
19 | remediate specific sensory, motor, or visual perception | ||||||
20 | dysfunctions. | ||||||
21 | Section 10. The Health Maintenance Organization Act is | ||||||
22 | amended by changing Section 4-6.5 as follows:
