| AN ACT in relation to criminal law.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Criminal Code of 1961 is amended by changing |
5 |
| Section 2-5 as
follows:
|

| (720 ILCS 5/2-5) (from Ch. 38, par. 2-5)

| Sec. 2-5.
"Conviction".
|
8 |
| "Conviction" means a judgment of conviction or a sentence |
9 |
| entered upon a
plea of guilty or upon a verdict or finding of |
10 |
| guilty of an offense,
rendered by a legally constituted jury or |
11 |
| by a court of competent
jurisdiction authorized to try the case |
12 |
| without a jury.
