1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 4818

2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 4818 by replacing | ||||||
3 | the title with the following:
| ||||||
4 | "AN ACT concerning public aid."; and | ||||||
5 | by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the | ||||||
6 | following: | ||||||
7 | "Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by | ||||||
8 | changing Section 3-2 as follows:
| ||||||
9 | (305 ILCS 5/3-2) (from Ch. 23, par. 3-2)
| ||||||
10 | Sec. 3-2. Conditions for basic maintenance grants to | ||||||
11 | persons receiving institutional
care.
| ||||||
12 | A resident of a public or private home or institution | ||||||
13 | maintained for the
care of persons who are sick, convalescent, | ||||||
14 | infirm or chronically ill, may,
if otherwise qualified, be | ||||||
15 | granted financial aid for basic maintenance,
subject to the | ||||||
16 | rules and regulations of the Illinois Department, if the
| ||||||
17 | facilities of the home or institution are in conformity with | ||||||
18 | standards
prescribed by the Department of Public Health for | ||||||
19 | safeguarding the health,
safety, and comfort of the residents | ||||||
20 | thereof, and provide such services as
may be prescribed by the | ||||||
21 | Illinois Department for enhancing their
rehabilitation or | ||||||
22 | increasing their capacity for self-care. Beginning July 1, |

1 | 2004, the financial aid for basic maintenance for these | ||||||
2 | eligible residents shall be increased by 10%.
