| AN ACT concerning advisory referenda.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by |
5 |
| changing Section 3.1-40-60 as follows:
|

| (65 ILCS 5/3.1-40-60)
|

| Sec. 3.1-40-60. Advisory referenda. By a vote of the |
8 |
| majority of the
corporate authorities
members of the city |
9 |
| council , the corporate authorities
the council may authorize an |
10 |
| advisory question of
public policy to be placed on the ballot |
11 |
| at the next regularly scheduled
election in the municipality. |

| The corporate authorities
city council shall certify the |
13 |
| question to
the proper election authority, which must submit |
14 |
| the question at an election in
accordance with the Election |
15 |
| Code.
