 1        AN ACT in relation to criminal law.

 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5.   The  Criminal  Code  of  1961 is amended by
 5    adding Section 16D-5.5 as follows:

 6        (720 ILCS 5/16D-5.5 new)
 7        Sec. 16D05.5.  Computer Impersonation.
 8        (a)  In this  Section,  a  person's  "computer  identity"
 9    includes, but is not limited to:
10             (1)  A   person's  name,  address,  social  security
11        number, and employment, legal, and medical history;
12             (2)  A persons's financial information including but
13        not  limited  to:   bank  account  numbers,  credit  card
14        numbers, credit history, brokerage accounts, and  salary;
15        and
16             (3)  A persons' identification numbers including but
17        not  limited  to:  pin  numbers, access codes, passwords,
18        e-mail address, and any other type of security code.
19        (b)  A person  is  guilty  of  the  offense  of  computer
20    impersonation  when  he  or she accesses a computer, computer
21    system, or computer network and assumes the computer identity
22    of another person.
23        (c)  Sentence.   Computer  impersonation  is  a  Class  4
24    felony.

25        Section 99.  Effective date.  This Act takes effect  upon
26    becoming law.
