093_HB2983enr HB2983 Enrolled LRB093 11108 MKM 11858 b 1 AN ACT concerning veterans. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The Department of Veterans Affairs Act is 5 amended by changing Section 2.07 as follows: 6 (20 ILCS 2805/2.07) (from Ch. 126 1/2, par. 67.07) 7 Sec. 2.07. The Department shall employ and maintain 8 sufficient and qualified staff at the veterans' homes to 9 fulfill the requirements of this Act. The Department shall 10 report to the General Assembly, by January 1 and July 1 of 11 each year, the number of staff employed in providing direct 12 patient care at their veterans' homes, the compliance or 13 noncompliance with staffing standards established by the 14 United States Department of Veterans Affairs for such care, 15 and in the event of noncompliance with such standards, the 16 number of staff required for compliance. 17 All contracts between the State and outside contractors 18 to provide workers to staff and service the Anna Veterans 19 Home shall be canceled in accordance with the terms of those 20 contracts. Upon cancellation, each worker or staff member 21 shall be offered certified employment status under the 22 Illinois Personnel Code with the State of Illinois. To the 23 extent it is reasonably practicable, the position offered to 24 each person shall be at the same facility and shall consist 25 of the same duties and hours as previously existed under the 26 canceled contract or contracts. 27 (Source: P.A. 88-160.) 28 Section 99.
