093_HB2950enr HB2950 Enrolled LRB093 03674 SJM 03704 b 1 AN ACT concerning State parks. 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 3 represented in the General Assembly: 4 Section 5. The State Parks Act is amended by changing 5 Section 6 as follows: 6 (20 ILCS 835/6) (from Ch. 105, par. 468b) 7 Sec. 6. It is a violation of this Section for any person 8 to: 9 (1) Cut, break, injure, destroy, take or remove any 10 tree, shrub, timber, plant, or natural object in any park or 11 parkway, except that the Department of Natural Resources may, 12 by administrative rule, authorize edible fungi, nut, and 13 berry collection in those areas of Department owned, leased, 14 or managed lands where the collecting would not be in 15 conflict or incompatible with (i) Department of Natural 16 Resources natural resource management or recreational 17 programs for that area and (ii) the Natural Areas 18 Preservation Act; 19 (2) Kill, cause to be killed, or pursue with intent to 20 kill any bird or animal in a park or parkway, provided that 21 the Department of Natural Resources may by administrative 22 order authorize hunting in those areas of state parks where 23 such hunting would not be in conflict or incompatible with 24 Department of Natural Resources recreational programs for 25 that area; 26 (3) Take any fish from the waters of any park or 27 parkway, contrary to the rules and regulations of the 28 Department of Natural Resources; 29 (4) Wilfully mutilate, injure, deface, or destroy any 30 guide post, notice, tablet, fence, enclosure or work for the 31 protection or ornamentation of any park or parkway; HB2950 Enrolled -2- LRB093 03674 SJM 03704 b 1 (5) Light any fire upon any park or parkway, except in 2 an authorized place or places or wilfully or carelessly 3 permit any fire which he has lighted or caused to be lighted, 4 or which shall be under his charge, to spread or extend to or 5 burn any shrubbery, trees, timber, ornaments, or improvements 6 upon any State park, nature preserve or parkways, or leave 7 any camp fires which he shall have lighted or caused to be 8 lighted, or which shall have been left in his charge, 9 unattended by a competent person; 10 (6) Place within any park or parkway or affix to any 11 object therein contained, any work, character, or device 12 designed to advertise any business, profession, article, 13 thing, exhibition, matter or event; 14 (7) Violate any rule or regulation adopted and published 15 by the Department of Natural Resources pursuant to the 16 provisions of this Act. 17 A person who violates this Section shall, for each 18 offense, be guilty of a Class B misdemeanor. 19 (Source: P.A. 89-445, eff. 2-7-96.) 20 Section 99.
