 1        AN ACT concerning professional regulation.

 2        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section 5.  The Medical Practice Act of 1987  is  amended
 5    by changing Section 6 as follows:

 6        (225 ILCS 60/6) (from Ch. 111, par. 4400-6)
 7        (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2007)
 8        Sec.  6.  Exclusive  State  power  or  function.   It  is
 9    declared  to  be the public policy of this State, pursuant to
10    paragraphs (h) and (i) of Section 6 of  Article  VII  of  the
11    Illinois Constitution of 1970, that any power or function set
12    forth  in  this  Act  to  be  exercised  by  the  State is an
13    exclusive State power or function.  Such  power  or  function
14    shall  not  be  exercised  concurrently,  either  directly or
15    indirectly, by any unit of local government,  including  home
16    rule units, except as otherwise provided in this Act.
