 1        AN ACT concerning veterans.

 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5.   The  Department  of Veterans Affairs Act is
 5    amended by adding Section 2e as follows:

 6        (20 ILCS 2805/2e new)
 7        Sec. 2e.  LaSalle Veterans Home capacity.
 8        (a)  The Department finds that the Illinois Veterans Home
 9    at LaSalle requires an increase in capacity to  better  serve
10    the  north  central region of Illinois and to accommodate the
11    increasing number of Illinois veterans eligible for care.
12        (b)  Subject  to  appropriation,  the  Department   shall
13    increase  by  at  least  80 beds the capacity of the Illinois
14    Veterans Home at LaSalle and shall request and expend federal
15    grants for this Veterans Home addition.

16        Section 99.  Effective date.  This Act takes effect  upon
17    becoming law.
