Amend House Bill 876, AS AMENDED, 3 with reference to page and line numbers of Senate Amendment 4 No. 1, on page 5, line 2, by replacing "Section 16-107.5" 5 with "Sections 16-107.5 and 16-111.3"; and 6 on page 6, immediately below line 1, by inserting the 7 following: 8 "(220 ILCS 5/16-111.3 new) 9 Sec. 16-111.3. Public university renewable energy 10 projects. 11 (a) The Legislature finds and declares that the 12 implementation of renewable energy sources by public 13 universities for their own use can encourage private 14 investment in renewable energy resources, stimulate economic 15 growth, enhance the continued diversification of Illinois' 16 energy resource mix, and protect the environment of Illinois. 17 (b) The Legislature further finds and declares that the 18 funding of public university renewable energy projects by the 19 Illinois Clean Energy Community Trust is consistent with the 20 Legislature's intent in providing for the Trust in Section 21 16-111.1 of this Act and, therefore, encourages public 22 universities to request funding of such projects from the -2- LRB093 05675 AMC 17293 a 1 Trust and the Trust, consistent with the resources available 2 to the Trust and with the good judgment of its trustees, to 3 grant such requests. 4 (c) As used in this Section: 5 "Renewable energy source" means a solar or wind 6 electrical generating facility with a capacity of not more 7 than 1000 kilowatts that is located on the premises of a 8 public university and is intended primarily to offset part or 9 all of the university's own electrical requirements. 10 "Public university" means Northern Illinois University, 11 Southern Illinois University, Eastern Illinois University, 12 Western Illinois University, the University of Illinois, 13 Chicago State University, Governors State University, 14 Illinois State University, or Northeastern Illinois 15 University.".
