SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Mark Timothy Morgan, who passed away
4on March 12, 2026; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mark Morgan was born in Chicago to Margaret
6Beatrice "Sadie" Williams and Roosevelt Morgan on July 14,
71961; he graduated from Calumet High School and attended
8Kennedy-King College and Truman College; he married Octavia
9Morgan on May 24, 1984; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Mark Morgan worked a variety of jobs before
11finding his calling as an electrician; he was hired by the City
12of Chicago, where he trained and excelled as a lineman,
13lampman, and a journeyman electrician; after retirement, he
14continued his work as an independent contractor with the
15electrician union and founded Faith Electric; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Mark Morgan was deeply involved in his community,
17collaborating with organizations that supported people
18experiencing homelessness, recovery, and life transitions; he
19advocated for children, the elderly, and those overlooked or
20mistreated; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Mark Morgan was affiliated with several

1ministries, including Greater Whitestone, Lawndale Christian
2Center Church, Body of Christ Deliverance Ministries, and
3Right Spirit Baptist Church, and was known for his deep
4understanding of scripture; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mark Morgan was preceded in death by his parents;
6his brother, Roosevelt Morgan Jr.; and his sisters, Beatrice
7Robinson and Darlene Morgan; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Mark Morgan is survived by his wife, Octavia
9Morgan; his children, Octavia Sakho, Margaret Portia Morgan,
10Rhonda (Mateo) Singleton, and Ronald Bean Jr.; his
11grandchildren, Markis II, Edward Major, and Dana Washington;
12his grand-dog, Sugga-Baby Morgan; his sibling, Denise (Jesse)
13Woods; and numerous nephews, nieces, great-nieces,
14great-nephews, great-grandchildren, godchildren,
15god-grandchildren, and friends; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Mark Timothy Morgan and extend our sincere condolences to his
19family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of Mark Morgan as an expression of our
