SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3congratulate the Belvidere Lions Club on its 80th anniversary
4and eight decades of service to the Belvidere community; and
 
5    WHEREAS, The original Belvidere Lions Club was organized
6on March 21, 1939, and a formal charter ceremony was held at
7Immanuel Lutheran Church School on October 4, 1939; and
 
8    WHEREAS, The Belvidere Lions Club expanded its impact by
9sponsoring the Harvard Lions Club in 1942, and the Club
10sponsored new Lions clubs in Genoa, Kirkland, Marengo, Capron,
11Poplar Grove, and Cherry Valley; and
 
12    WHEREAS, After being disbanded during World War Two, the
13Belvidere Lions Club was reorganized and officially
14rechartered on April 27, 1946; and
 
15    WHEREAS, The Belvidere Lions Club has long been known as a
16hands-on, hardworking organization, sponsoring many large and
17memorable projects within the community, including Heritage
18Days, the Boone County Fair, the Fish and Fun competition, and
19more; and
 
20    WHEREAS, One current initiative of the Belvidere Lions

1Club is the development of an inclusive, ADA-compliant
2playground that is being designed to remove physical and
3social barriers, ensuring that children of all abilities can
4play and interact together; and
 
5    WHEREAS, The Belvidere Lions Club has embodied the spirit
6of service, leadership, and compassion that defines Lions
7Clubs International for the past 80 years, supported by a
8strong foundation rooted in volunteerism, integrity, and a
9deep sense of civic responsibility; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the
12Belvidere Lions Club on the occasion of its 80-year
13anniversary, and we wish the Club all the best in its future
14endeavors; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the Belvidere Lions Club as a symbol of our esteem
17and respect.
