| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Lawrence K. "Larry" Tumulty, who |
| 4 | | passed away on February 22, 2026; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Larry Tumulty, the son of John and Rose Donath |
| 6 | | Tumulty, was born in Springfield on May 22, 1935; he served in |
| 7 | | the United States Army in Korea from 1955 to 1957; he married |
| 8 | | Beverly J. "Bev" Runkels at the Cathedral of the Immaculate |
| 9 | | Conception in Springfield on October 23, 1965; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Larry Tumulty joined the Springfield Police |
| 11 | | Department in 1962, retiring as a detective in 1987 after 25 |
| 12 | | years of service; after a brief retirement, he returned to |
| 13 | | city employment to serve as chief of security at City Water, |
| 14 | | Light, and Power (CWLP); after retiring again, he and his |
| 15 | | wife, Bev, moved to Athens; to combat restlessness, he |
| 16 | | proceeded to serve as a doorman for the Senate at the State |
| 17 | | Capitol, where he worked for several years until the COVID-19 |
| 18 | | pandemic occurred; and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Larry Tumulty was a diehard Illini fan and a |
| 20 | | lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan; in retirement, he and Bev |
| 21 | | loved going to casinos and taking destination gambling trips; |
| 22 | | and |
