SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John M. Eckert of Springfield, who passed away on February 15, 2026; and

WHEREAS, John Eckert, the son of the late Albert and Nancy Eckert, was born on March 21, 1959; and

WHEREAS, John Eckert worked for the Department on Aging for over 20 years, strengthening supportive services for older Illinoisans and people with disabilities and influencing laws to improve their lives, and he finished his career as the deputy division manager; and

WHEREAS, John Eckert was a devoted son, brother, and uncle who inspired others to live fully and love generously; he embodied perseverance and a deep commitment to finding purpose beyond his life's disadvantages; and

WHEREAS, John Eckert is survived by his siblings, Jim (Sharon), Grace, Carol, Susan (Jeff), and Martha; his nephew and nieces, James, Grace, Pepper, and Kate; and his great-nieces, Reina, Marina, and Iona; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of John M. Eckert and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Eckert as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
