SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Kevin Schoeplein of Bluffton, South
4Carolina, who passed away on March 27, 2026; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Kevin Schoeplein, the son of Wilfred and Mary
6Mangan Schoeplein, was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 22,
71953; he graduated from St. Edward High School in Lakewood,
8Ohio; he attended Saint Louis University, and he earned
9master's degrees in finance and hospital administration from
10Xavier University; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Kevin Schoeplein initially worked at St.
12Elizabeth Hospital in Dayton, Ohio; he began serving as an
13assistant hospital administrator for OSF HealthCare (OSF) in
14Peoria, Illinois in 1978, retiring as CEO of OSF in 2017;
15during his nearly four-decade tenure, he was instrumental in
16the development of OSF as an Accountable Care Organization,
17oversaw the expansion of OSF from seven to eleven hospitals,
18and helped lead the system to national recognition as a
19top-performing health care system; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Kevin Schoeplein was a member of St. Thomas
21Church, where he served on the parish council; he served on the
22boards of several organizations, including the Illinois

1Hospital Association, the Catholic Health Association, Bradley
2University, and David Vaughan Investments; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Kevin Schoeplein was a devoted husband, father,
4and grandfather; he was known for his calm demeanor,
5thoughtful nature, and his rare gift for making those around
6him feel valued, supported, and loved; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Kevin Schoeplein was preceded in death by his
8parents and his brothers, Chuck and Jim; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Kevin Schoeplein is survived by his wife of 47
10years, Lisa (Brandewie) Schoeplein; his children, Stacie
11(fiance, Jack Negro) Clayton, Molly (Jeff) Ziegler, Chris
12(Tami) Schoeplein, Ashley (Adam) Gagnon, and Matt (Brittany)
13Schoeplein; 13 grandchildren; and his siblings, Karen and Don;
14therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Kevin Schoeplein and extend our sincere condolences to his
18family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Kevin Schoeplein as an expression
