HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The State of Illinois and the Province of Alberta 
3have long enjoyed friendly relations and mutually beneficial 
4economies; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Alberta is Illinois' second-largest trading 
6partner and largest export market; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Total bilateral trade between Illinois and 
8Alberta was $49.2B in 2023, with imports totalling $48.1B and 
9exports $1.0B; and
 
10    WHEREAS, A reported 70,800 Illinois jobs are supported by 
11trade with Alberta (2023); and
 
12    WHEREAS, Energy accounts for 67% or $688.8M of Illinois 
13exports to Alberta (2023), and the majority of Illinois 
14imports from Alberta are crude oil and petroleum products 
15(2023); and
 
16    WHEREAS, Illinois exports $79.6M in machinery to Alberta 
17(2023), $52M in railway equipment, $31.5M in electrical 
18equipment, and $23.4M in rubber products; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Illinois and Alberta have a history of being

1strong partners and trusted neighbors through bilateral trade, 
2integrated economies, and similar energy approaches; 
3therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
5HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we celebrate the successful partnership between the State of 
7Illinois and the Province of Alberta.
