HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to commend Dr. Ken Hendriksen, Executive
4Director of the Educational Foundation at St. Teresa High
5School in Decatur, for his enduring contributions to the
6educational advancement of the youth of this State; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dr. Hendriksen's commitment to academic
8excellence is reflected in his own rigorous educational
9background; he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Lewis
10University, a Master of Science in Guidance and Counseling
11from Western Illinois University, a Master of Science in
12Education with a concentration in educational administration
13from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, a Specialist
14Degree in Education from Eastern Illinois University, and a
15Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Administration from
16Southern Illinois University Carbondale; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Dr. Hendriksen served with distinction in various
18vital educational leadership roles across the State, including
19as Principal of Carrollton High School, Principal of Mt. Zion
20High School, and Superintendent of the Mt. Zion School
21District; and
 
22    WHEREAS, In 2007, Dr. Hendriksen brought his wealth of

1experience to St. Teresa High School, assuming the role of
2principal and chief executive officer; during this tenure, he
3skillfully managed an enrollment of 240 students and
4spearheaded transformative building campaigns that resulted in
5crucial facility improvements; and
 
6    WHEREAS, In 2016, Dr. Hendriksen transitioned to the role
7of Executive Director of the St. Teresa Educational
8Foundation, where he worked to ensure the institution's future
9through various strategic fund-raising campaigns; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dr. Hendriksen has been a respected leader among
11his peers, serving on the Board of Directors for the Illinois
12Association of School Administrators and the Advisory Board
13for the American Association of School Administrators; he has
14also lent his expertise as the Chairman of Partners in
15Education, the Heartland Region Education for Employment
16Systems, and Macon-Piatt Special Education; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Dr. Hendriksen's excellence was formally
18acknowledged when he was named an "Educationis Lumen" nominee
19by Lewis University; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Throughout Dr. Hendriksen's illustrious life and
21career, he has been supported by his loving family, including
22his devoted wife, Laura, his children, David, Rebecca, John,

1and Steven, and his many beloved grandchildren; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Dr. Hendriksen's commitment to service extends
3far beyond the schoolyard through his active involvement as a
4member of the Knights of Columbus, the Mt. Zion Lions Club, and
5the Macon County Regional Planning Commission and as a Board
6Member for Catholic Charities; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dr. Hendriksen will leave an enduring legacy at
8St. Teresa High School and the broader educational landscape
9of Illinois; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
11HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we commend Ken Hendriksen, Ph.D., for his 53 years of
13unparalleled dedication to education, congratulate him on his
14myriad accomplishments at St. Teresa High School, and wish
15him, his wife Laura, and his entire family the very best in all
16of their future endeavors; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to Dr. Ken Hendriksen as an expression of our
19profound respect and esteem.
