| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to commend Dr. Ken Hendriksen, Executive |
| 4 | | Director of the Educational Foundation at St. Teresa High |
| 5 | | School in Decatur, for his enduring contributions to the |
| 6 | | educational advancement of the youth of this State; and |
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Hendriksen's commitment to academic |
| 8 | | excellence is reflected in his own rigorous educational |
| 9 | | background; he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Lewis |
| 10 | | University, a Master of Science in Guidance and Counseling |
| 11 | | from Western Illinois University, a Master of Science in |
| 12 | | Education with a concentration in educational administration |
| 13 | | from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, a Specialist |
| 14 | | Degree in Education from Eastern Illinois University, and a |
| 15 | | Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Administration from |
| 16 | | Southern Illinois University Carbondale; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Hendriksen served with distinction in various |
| 18 | | vital educational leadership roles across the State, including |
| 19 | | as Principal of Carrollton High School, Principal of Mt. Zion |
| 20 | | High School, and Superintendent of the Mt. Zion School |
| 21 | | District; and |
| 22 | | WHEREAS, In 2007, Dr. Hendriksen brought his wealth of |
|

| 1 | | experience to St. Teresa High School, assuming the role of |
| 2 | | principal and chief executive officer; during this tenure, he |
| 3 | | skillfully managed an enrollment of 240 students and |
| 4 | | spearheaded transformative building campaigns that resulted in |
| 5 | | crucial facility improvements; and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, In 2016, Dr. Hendriksen transitioned to the role |
| 7 | | of Executive Director of the St. Teresa Educational |
| 8 | | Foundation, where he worked to ensure the institution's future |
| 9 | | through various strategic fund-raising campaigns; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Hendriksen has been a respected leader among |
| 11 | | his peers, serving on the Board of Directors for the Illinois |
| 12 | | Association of School Administrators and the Advisory Board |
| 13 | | for the American Association of School Administrators; he has |
| 14 | | also lent his expertise as the Chairman of Partners in |
| 15 | | Education, the Heartland Region Education for Employment |
| 16 | | Systems, and Macon-Piatt Special Education; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Hendriksen's excellence was formally |
| 18 | | acknowledged when he was named an "Educationis Lumen" nominee |
| 19 | | by Lewis University; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Throughout Dr. Hendriksen's illustrious life and |
| 21 | | career, he has been supported by his loving family, including |
| 22 | | his devoted wife, Laura, his children, David, Rebecca, John, |
|

| 1 | | and Steven, and his many beloved grandchildren; and |
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Hendriksen's commitment to service extends |
| 3 | | far beyond the schoolyard through his active involvement as a |
| 4 | | member of the Knights of Columbus, the Mt. Zion Lions Club, and |
| 5 | | the Macon County Regional Planning Commission and as a Board |
| 6 | | Member for Catholic Charities; and |
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Hendriksen will leave an enduring legacy at |
| 8 | | St. Teresa High School and the broader educational landscape |
| 9 | | of Illinois; therefore, be it |
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 11 | | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 12 | | we commend Ken Hendriksen, Ph.D., for his 53 years of |
| 13 | | unparalleled dedication to education, congratulate him on his |
| 14 | | myriad accomplishments at St. Teresa High School, and wish |
| 15 | | him, his wife Laura, and his entire family the very best in all |
| 16 | | of their future endeavors; and be it further |
| 17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 18 | | presented to Dr. Ken Hendriksen as an expression of our |
| 19 | | profound respect and esteem. |
