HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Cyndi Oberle-Dahm on the
4occasion of her retirement as a history teacher in Belleville
5Township District 201; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Cyndi Oberle-Dahm has taught Advanced Placement
7History for 34 years and served as chair of the Social Studies
8Department for the past 15 years; she has educated, coached,
9and mentored more than 4,000 students during her tenure; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Cyndi Oberle-Dahm earned a Bachelor of Arts in
11History from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and a
12Master of Science in History from Southern Illinois University
13Edwardsville; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Cyndi Oberle-Dahm has coached Odyssey of the
15Mind, Scholar Bowl, and varsity cheerleading for football and
16basketball, and she has been a club sponsor for Model UN and
17the Rare Disease Club; she coordinated the Veterans Day
18Assembly for more than 20 years and has hosted several
19naturalization ceremonies at Belleville West High School; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Cyndi Oberle-Dahm has served as a World Link
21Foreign Exchange coordinator and student sponsor; she

1coordinated the study abroad program for over a decade of
2student trips to Europe and received Fulbright Educational
3Fellowships to Japan, China, and Russia; and
 
4    WHEREAS, As president of the Southwest Area Council
5(SWAC), an affiliate of the Illinois Federation of Teachers,
6Cyndi Oberle-Dahm represented over 6,000 members; she has
7served the Belleville Federation of Teachers Local 434 as
8president for multiple terms and as building representative,
9executive council member, and negotiating team member; after
10holding the position of secretary/treasurer with the Illinois
11Federation of Teachers, she assumed her current role of vice
12president; and
 
13    WHEREAS, In addition to her professional accomplishments,
14Cyndi Oberle-Dahm is a wife to Norm and a mother to their four
15children, Conrad, Eliot, Rebecca, and Emily; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Cyndi Oberle-Dahm has been a source of
17inspiration for teachers and students over the course of her
18celebrated career; as an advocate for students, colleagues,
19and the State educational system, she is what teachers strive
20to be; therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
22HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1we congratulate Cyndi Oberle-Dahm on her retirement from
2Belleville Township District 201 and thank her for her
3commitment to the community and to the State of Illinois; and
4be it further

6presented to Cyndi Oberle-Dahm as an expression of our esteem
7and respect.
