HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives wishes to commend The Baby Bank on the occasion of its one millionth diaper distributed to families in Boone and Winnebago counties; and

WHEREAS, The Baby Bank was recognized with the 2024 Community Champion Award by the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois for its exceptional local efforts and impact; and

WHEREAS, The Baby Bank has increased the number of diapers it has distributed every year, giving away more than 250,000 diapers in 2025 while also expanding to offer other infant necessities such as baby wipes, rash cream, and shampoo; and

WHEREAS, The Baby Bank was founded by Anna Pivoras in 2018 with the mission to create a healthier community by providing hygiene supplies to children in need; and

WHEREAS, One in two U.S. families with young children struggle to afford clean diapers for their baby; and

WHEREAS, The National Diaper Bank Network (NDBN) Diaper Check 2023 found that one in four U.S. parents/caregivers experiencing diaper need reported missing an average of 5.1 days of work or school in the past month because they lacked the diapers needed to leave their child at a childcare facility; and

WHEREAS, Diapers cost the average family approximately $100 monthly per child, and programs such as WIC and SNAP do not cover the purchase of diapers for low-income families; and

WHEREAS, The Baby Bank has partnered with churches, food pantries, schools, domestic violence prevention organizations, and many others to meet families with young children where they are and distribute diapers into the community; and

WHEREAS, The Baby Bank's commitment to supplying essentials to our children and supporting parents/guardians as they strive to provide care and compassion is laudable, while its impactful work in distributing one million diapers over the last eight years is a fitting milestone for celebration; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend The Baby Bank and all of its volunteers on the occasion of its one millionth diaper distributed, and we wish the organization continued success in addressing the essential needs of so many families in its communities; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to The Baby Bank as an expression of our esteem and respect.
