SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Lorraine K. Shadid of Peoria, who
4passed away on November 9, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lorraine Shadid was born to Harry and Sadie
6(Abraham) Unes on April 30, 1931; she married George P. Shadid
7on May 30, 1953; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Lorraine Shadid worked at the Bradley University
9Cullom-Davis Library for many years, where she supplied
10students, including two of her Bradley University
11grandchildren, with baked goods and laughs on a regular basis;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Lorraine Shadid lived a full life; she was happy
14and kind and an optimistic person who believed in the goodness
15of everyone; she treasured her family and friends; she was
16able to see her grandchildren grow into adults and had a
17relationship with each that shared cooking, humor, joy, and an
18abundance of love; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Lorraine Shadid was preceded in death by her
20husband; her son, George P. Shadid Jr.; and her siblings,
21Lawrence, Ken, Donald, Harriet (Fred) Bostany, Helen (John)

1Domenighini, and Maurice Joseph; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Lorraine Shadid is survived by her son, James
3(Jane) Shadid; her daughter-in-law, Mikie Shadid; her
4grandchildren, James (Anne) Shadid, Joseph (Lauren Powell)
5Shadid, Margaret (Grant Bosnich) Shadid, and Lauren Shadid;
6her sister, Norma Joseph; her brothers, Leonard (Eileen) and
7David (Marie); and her sisters-in-law, Patricia (Murphy) Unes,
8Carol (Bonucchi) Unes, and Sue (Gary) Weaver; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Lorraine K. Shadid and extend our sincere condolences to her
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Lorraine Shadid as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
