SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Barbara Jean Flener of Springfield,
4who passed away on September 28, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Barbara Flener, the daughter of George C. and
6Bernice (Noddin) Matthews, was born in Boston, Massachusetts
7on March 8, 1936; she married Charles R. Flener on November 26,
81955; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Barbara Flener retired as an office manager for
10the State Attorney's Office after 30 years of service; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Barbara Flener was a member of Sherman Church of
12the Nazarene; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Barbara Flener enjoyed bowling and reading; she
14loved going on cruises, completing more than 30 cruises in her
15lifetime; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Barbara Flener was preceded in death by her
17parents; her husband; and her brother, George C. Matthews Jr.;
18and
 
19    WHEREAS, Barbara Flener is survived by her daughters,

1BethAnne (Stephen) Pellegrini and Debra (Tim) Marker; four
2grandchildren; one great-grandson; her brother, Clinton
3(Evelyn) Matthews; and several nieces and nephews; therefore,
4be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Barbara Jean Flener and extend our sincere condolences to her
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Barbara Flener as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
