2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Kathleen M. Cannon of Oak Park, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on June 6, 2024 at the age of 83; and | ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Kathy Cannon was born to Thoris and Russell Kirby | ||||||
6 | on December 14, 1940; and | ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Kathy Cannon was raised in Waukegan and attended | ||||||
8 | Northern Illinois University (NIU), where she earned her | ||||||
9 | teaching degree; and | ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Kathy Cannon met her husband, Thomas Cannon, | ||||||
11 | while studying at NIU; and | ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Kathy Cannon was a devoted parishioner of St. | ||||||
13 | Andrew's Church in Chicago, where her husband was a priest; | ||||||
14 | and | ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Kathy Cannon adored her children, Dave, Pete, | ||||||
16 | Tom, Sarah, and Josh, and cherished her time being a | ||||||
17 | stay-at-home mother; and | ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Kathy Cannon re-launched her career at the | ||||||
19 | Village of Oak Park, eventually becoming deputy village clerk; |

2 | WHEREAS, Kathy Cannon worked for the Village of Oak Park | ||||||
3 | for more than two decades, making lifelong friends; and | ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Kathy Cannon enjoyed waking up before her family, | ||||||
5 | drinking her coffee and reading a book in those early hours; | ||||||
6 | and | ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Kathy Cannon filled her days with volunteering, | ||||||
8 | gardening, staying active, spending time with friends, and | ||||||
9 | baking; and | ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Kathy Cannon loved her children and grandchildren | ||||||
11 | more than anything, and she spoiled them rotten; and | ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Kathy Cannon is survived by her five children and | ||||||
13 | her grandchildren, Jonathan, Jeremy, Alexa, and Mitch; | ||||||
14 | therefore, be it | ||||||
15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
17 | Kathleen M. Cannon and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
18 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
