SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Kathleen M. Cannon of Oak Park, who passed away on June 6, 2024 at the age of 83; and

WHEREAS, Kathy Cannon was born to Thoris and Russell Kirby on December 14, 1940; and

WHEREAS, Kathy Cannon was raised in Waukegan and attended Northern Illinois University (NIU), where she earned her teaching degree; and

WHEREAS, Kathy Cannon met her husband, Thomas Cannon, while studying at NIU; and

WHEREAS, Kathy Cannon was a devoted parishioner of St. Andrew's Church in Chicago, where her husband was a priest; and

WHEREAS, Kathy Cannon adored her children, Dave, Pete, Tom, Sarah, and Josh, and cherished her time being a stay-at-home mother; and

WHEREAS, Kathy Cannon re-launched her career at the Village of Oak Park, eventually becoming deputy village clerk; and

WHEREAS, Kathy Cannon worked for the Village of Oak Park for more than two decades, making lifelong friends; and

WHEREAS, Kathy Cannon enjoyed waking up before her family, drinking her coffee and reading a book in those early hours; and

WHEREAS, Kathy Cannon filled her days with volunteering, gardening, staying active, spending time with friends, and baking; and

WHEREAS, Kathy Cannon loved her children and grandchildren more than anything, and she spoiled them rotten; and

WHEREAS, Kathy Cannon is survived by her five children and her grandchildren, Jonathan, Jeremy, Alexa, and Mitch; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Kathleen M. Cannon and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kathy Cannon as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
