SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Carl Herman Schmacht of Cambridge, who
4passed away on September 21, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Carl Schmacht, the son of Charles Herman and
6Isabel (Horton) Schmacht, was born in Rock Island on April 5,
71935; he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and in
8the U.S. Army Reserve for several years; he married Sandra
9Glasgow in Rock Island on July 3, 1956; he later married Jane
10Ann Gillispie; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Carl Schmacht worked as a self-employed builder
12known for refinishing homes and building swimming pools, and
13his work included constructing a third of an acre pool for the
14Davenport Country Club and a theme park located west of Des
15Moines, Iowa; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Carl Schmacht was a lifetime member of the VFW
17and the Rock Island Moose Lodge; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Carl Schmacht enjoyed bowling and working around
19his house, and he was known for making unique jewelry for his
20loved ones; and

1    WHEREAS, Carl Schmacht loved his family and friends
2fiercely, and his patriotism could be seen in every aspect of
3his life; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Carl Schmacht was preceded in death by his
5parents; his son, Dennis Schmacht; his daughter-in-law, Lori
6Schmacht; his grandson, Zach Schmacht; and his siblings, Rita,
7Carmelita, Carol, Karen, Mildred, Walter, David, Elmer, and
8Wayne Ronald Schmacht; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Carl Schmacht is survived by his children,
10Deborah (Merrill) Muller, Dan'el Schmacht, Dale (Natalie)
11Schmacht, Diana-Dea Schmacht, and Denise Miles; 13
12grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Roman
13(Pat) Schmacht, Eddie Schmacht, Kathy Wilson, and Thomas
14Schmacht; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Carl Herman Schmacht and extend our sincere condolences to his
18family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Carl Schmacht as an expression of
22our deepest sympathy.
